Donor Relations Manager, member of the volunteer orientation team, and mentor to the ever-growing development team at Austin Pets Alive!, Kristina Jakstas is one of the hardest working development professionals around. Devoted to the cause, Kristina joined the APA! family as a volunteer, particularly involved with the Dog Behavior Team, community outreach and events, and the volunteer coordination committee.
She found her way to Austin from the cold and bleary Illinois tundra when she got into the University of Texas in 2005. She studied communications, and worked at an ed-tech start up straight out of college while volunteering at APA! When an Outreach Coordinator position was created in 2012, Kristina joined the staff. She is currently the Donor Relations Manager, overseeing special fundraising campaigns, writing grants, and maintaining relationships with major donors.
Outside of APA!, Kristina is a marathon maniac who is in a constant state of training for her next best time. You may also find her practicing yoga, on the lookout for a good happy hour, or snuggled with a furry sleepover buddy watching cooking shows on her couch.
As Donor Relations Manager, she has developed a formula for raising significant funds through events that can be beneficial to organizations throughout the entire country. Come to the 2014 American Pets Alive No-Kill Conference to learn from Kristina and the other members of the APA! Development Team, as well as other local and national leaders in no-kill development.
