While living in rural Illinios, Monica noticed the stark lack of resources available for community cats and decided to do something about it. Monica founded Safe House Animal Rescue League in Mendota, Illionios in 2008.
Through Safe House, she trapped, hauled to Chicago for sterilization, then returned to the rural outlying areas, thousands of cats each year. In addition, she developed one of the nation’s most successful Barn Cat programs, saving over 300 feral cats from euthanasia annually.
In 2012, Monica moved to Texas and joined the Austin Pets Alive! team where she runs the Barn Cat Program and Cat Behavior Program, and rocks the position of Cat Adoption Manager on a daily basis with a big smile on her face. Her love of sassy cats helps save even the most challenging of felines.
Monica will be presenting on both developing a successful barn cat program for feral and fractious cats, and on high volume cat adoptions at the 2014 American Pets Alive! No-Kill Conference! Register now: www.americanpetsalive2014.eventbrite.com
