Acting Deputy Chief Animal Services Officer for the City of Austin
Jason Gaza currently serves as the Acting Deputy Chief Animal Services Officer for the City of Austin. In this role, Jason oversees a number of functions within the Animal Services Office, including the Field Services program, Outreach and Prevention programs and the Volunteer program.
Jason has more than 11 years’ experience with the City of Austin and has worked with the City Manager’s Office and the Austin Code Department. During his time at the City Manager’s Office, Jason was an Assistant to an Assistant City Manager (ACM) where he acted as liaison between the office and citizens, Council offices and departments, and monitored and managed various requests and projects that needed ACM attention.
Jason has a Master of Public Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, TX.
In addition to his professional duties, Jason is very active in several civic and professional organizations, including the International City/County Management Association, Texas City Management Association (former Board Member), Urban Management Assistants of Central Texas (Founding Member) and the Austin Hispanic/Latino Network, which is a City of Austin employee network that provides professional development opportunities and cultural awareness.
Jason and his wife, Liz, have two kids, Eliana and Max.
