Intake Coordinator at Austin Pets Alive!
Katie first heard about APA through her best friend who was an RTR volunteer and she couldn’t wait to get involved in the revolutionary programs APA has to offer. When she moved here in July 2014, APA was her second stop after a lunch at Chuy’s. She started volunteering in September and found a passion for sleepovers which led to fostering and ultimately in her adopting a long stay behavior dog named Vickie. She began as a staff member when she accepted the Intake Coordinator position in April 2016. In this position she is able to spread the APA mission by rescuing dogs from neighboring counties and shelters who may be at risk due to space or those needing medical assistance. Her favorite parts of the job are building relationships with other people in rescue and watching the small scared dogs open up and gain confidence.
