Mid-Atlantic Regional Director for Best Friends Animal Societ
Marc Peralta is the Mid-Atlantic Regional Director for Best Friends Animal Society and is responsible for overseeing the building and general management of Best Friends Animal Society’s City program, Regional program and Coalition in the Mid-Atlantic region. Emphasis is on growing activity in key communities and maintaining organizational awareness by providing key community awareness of the shelter death problem, how key stakeholders in the region are currently trying to solve the problem, and the strategies through which Best Friends Animal Society can collaboratively help the region achieve no kill status.
Prior to his role as regional director, Marc served as Executive Director for Best Friend Animal Society in Los Angeles where he led Best Friends program operations in Los Angeles. In 2011, Los Angeles was struggling to save just over half of the cats and dogs entering our city shelters, and under Marc and Best Friends’ leadership, LA is on target to meet the threshold of a No Kill City, reaching a 90% save rate, by the end of 2017. Marc’s duties as Executive Director specifically included the operations for the Best Friend’s Pet Adoption Center in Mission Hills, CA, the NKLA Pet Adoption Center in West Los Angeles as well as leading the 133 group and growing NKLA coalition.
Marc also served as Vice President and Chief Operating Officer as well as interim CEO at the Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PSPCA) located in Philadelphia, PA. In addition to his duties at the Pennsylvania SPCA, Marc also served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Animal Care and Control Team of Philadelphia and worked in animal care manager roles at the Nevada Humane Society in Reno, NV and the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region in Colorado Springs, CO.
