Co-manager Tarrytown Dog Location at Austin Pets Alive!
Marcia got her start in dog rescue when she stumbled into a beagle rescue’s monthly play date at the park in 2011. Through working with this small group, she learned about the basics of rescue. When she moved to Austin, she knew that she wanted to find another group with whom she could continue saving animals.
Marcia joined APA! as a volunteer early in 2013 before becoming an off-site/event counselor later that year. She moved to the APA! Tarrytown Dog location when it opened in October 2013 and has been there ever since. As a co-manager at this location, her responsibilities include coordinating small dogs into compatible groups and teaching fearful dogs that life can be good. Getting to see these dogs who might not have a chance at another shelter blossom and find homes, and pampering the senior dogs are just some of her favorite things about being at Tarrytown.
