Local Program City Specialist -Houston, Texas for Best Friends Animal Society
Whitney Bliton is the Local Program City Specialist for Houston, Texas. Her role within the Regional Programs division of Best Friends Animal Society includes research/analytics, building relationships with shelters & rescue groups and initiating new programs in the community. Her focus is partnering and collaborating with animal welfare groups in Houston to increase live outcomes and decrease intake at shelters.
Whitney adopted her first dog after moving from North Carolina to Texas and it changed her life. After visiting the local shelter she knew that she wanted to get more involved with saving animals. Whitney began volunteering with Houston Pets Alive where she was a Team Lead at adoption events. Her role evolved into a Team Lead with the foster program, reviewing the list of animals that only had 24 hours left and placing them in foster care.
Prior to joining Best Friends, Whitney worked in merchandising and buying for 3 major companies in Houston and New York City. Whitney currently lives in Houston with her husband, Reilly and their 2 rescue dogs – Jack and Cleo.
